In the midst of the Coronavirus (Covid-19) the stress and anxiety levels have reached new heights for many people. The uncertainty of how to care for yourself, and your loved ones, can be overwhelming. In times such as this it is important to focus on things that you can control. Action Health Staffing is working diligently in providing ongoing education and training to our direct care providers, and our clients, on how to remain safe and provide safe care. Below are a few safety tips that can assist you during these trying times:
- wash your hands frequently (for at least 20 seconds) with soap and water. If soap and water are not available then use a hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol.
- avoid touching your face (particularly your eyes, nose, and mouth).
- stay home as much as possible, even if you don’t feel sick.
- cover your coughs and sneezes with a tissue and discard the tissue in the trash immediately. If a tissue is not available cough or sneeze into your elbow.
- clean frequently touched surfaces daily (e.g., tables, countertops, light switches, doorknobs, and cabinet handles) using a regular household detergent and water.
- avoid crowds and social gatherings.
- avoid all non-essential shopping and travel. Many grocery stores have delivery and pick up options. Many stores are also offering special shopping times to better accommodate seniors.
- maintain proper social distancing – keep at least 6 feet of distance between yourself and others.
- get plenty of sleep, this helps to support your immune system.
- if you have a fever, cough, and difficulty breathing seek medical attention and remember to call in advance.
- follow all recommendations from health authorities.
